If Mephisto sounds like a familiar name, it should. Victor's mother was Cynthia Von Doom, a witch who died by Mephisto's hand while Victor was young. Remember Sabrewulf from Killer Instinct? He's a Baron with "Von" in his name. He was born decades ago to a tribe of Latverian Romani people under the rule of an unnamed nobleman called the Baron, which would explain why he has "Von" in his name.
